Art Criticism Apprenticeship
BES x The Seattle Times

Jas Keimig Selected

The Black Embodiments Studio and The Seattle Times are excited to announce the inaugural Art Criticism Apprentice: Jas Keimig. For the next 6 months, Keimig will be embedded with the Seattle Times Arts and Culture desk, covering the exhibitions, performances, artists, institutional and social structures that shape Seattle’s art worlds. We’re equipping Keimig with the tools, mentorship, and platform to reimagine what legacy media arts criticism can do in a dynamic, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant cultural ecosystem.

Summer 2025
Brittany Moná is our Summer ‘25 Current Resident, a mail art project that sends the work of black artists to all residents of distinct Seattle zip codes. This time around, however, we included Moná’s work in the Pride Edition of Seattle Gay News—their work is included in print copies dropped throughout Seattle, and adaptations of the work can be found in ad placements across the Seattle Gay News website. More details can be found here.
